Mardi Gras for Meredith

Yesterday I had the pleasure of creating centerpieces for Meredith's upcoming Bat Mitzvah.

Meredith recently took a community service trip to New Orleans. She visited several schools affected by Hurricane Katrina, and after meeting with students, teachers, and parents, she decided that in addition to her service and volunteering, she wanted to leave something for everyone to enjoy. She created a lending library of boardgames for kids to check out like a library book, and be able to share and play with friends and family. Bravo to Meredith, and congrats on the upcoming Bat Mitzvah! Also while in New Orleans, Meredith and her parents went to several parades to really experience the true essence and spirit of Mardi Gras. She really wants to channel that at her upcoming celebration, and I happily agreed!

Here's a sneak peek:

I entered to find this:

Hundreds of masks, feathers, accessories, vases of every shape, bags and bags full of beads (many of which she caught herself at Mardi Gras!)

I was given three charges by her mom:
#1 The adult dinner reception has a color scheme of all white and gold- she'd like to see white, ivory and gold centerpieces, fairly the same.

#2 The kids party will have 30 and 36 inch cocktail tables, and the more color the better. have fun with it.

#3 some of the larger vases will be around the room and on various tables.. looking for as bright and vibrant and funky as possible!

here's what I came up with:

Stay tuned for pics from the big event, to see how it all came together!
